Hi everyone! If you follow me on Instagram (if you don’t you can follow me here), you would already know that last week I attended ASUS ZenFone Zoom launch in Agra. The phone was launched amidst much fanfare at the Jaypee Palace by ASUS CEO Jerry Shen (more details coming up in the post). All the participants of the events were given an awesome surprise gift at the end – the ASUS ZenFone Zoom phone 😀
ASUS ZenFone Zoom Review
I have been using this new device ever since I got my hands on it. As the name suggests, it has a 3X optical zoom feature to ‘See the World up Close’. It is world’s thinnest 3X optical-zoom smart phone. This is in addition to the digital zoom feature which is available in all present day smartphones. Combined with digital zoom, the ASUS ZenFone Zoom can zoom in up to 12X. It has a 10-element HOYA lens and laser auto focus. The rear camera is 13MP while the front camera is 5MP. We clicked many photographs using the device in morning, indoors and late evenings, and found the pictures to be of awesome sharpness. The color of the pictures was also more vivid than the other common smartphones available. This was expected as the photography is the main USP of the ASUS ZenFone Zoom. Here are some of the pictures that I took of the iconic Taj Mahal from ASUS ZenFone Zoom.
Using high exposure in low lighting conditions
However, there is more to this powerful device. Powered by Intel AtomZ3590 quad core processor clocked at 2.5 ghz, the phone works smooth when playing games, browsing online, playing videos or shooting. Besides it has a 4GB RAM memory and an internal storage of 128GB (plus additional memory card slot)with BoostMaster fast-charging and Full HD display – all this bringing it at par with power of PCs, much ahead of other flagships around.
With a screen size of 5.5″ and 5 mm thickness I found the phone a little big, but that is a minor issue considering we are in the era of large screen phones already. Back of the phone has a smooth leather finish and the sides are of solid metal framing which lends it a premium look. I particularly liked the curvy design as that makes the phone softer to hold. The touch is liquid fast and it takes a little while getting used to it. The phone lacks on the OS front being based on Android 5.0 when the Marshmallow 6.0 is rolling out for other smartphones. Priced at Rs. 37999/- and available on Flipkart, this phone does not fall in the affordable category. But considering the features, it can still give the other flagships a run for the money!
