How have you been? As promised, we are here today with our post on latest trends and our top highlights from the Amazon India Couture Week 2015. AICW 2015 was held from 29th July to the 2nd of August 2015 at the Taj Palace Hotel (Delhi), in association with Sunar Jewellers. The Fashion Design Council of India scheduled 11 stunning shows showcasing beautiful work by the finest dress designers of the country ranging from Sabyasachi to Rohit Bahl (12 Fashion designers participated in the show). The week was what it is meant to be – Royal, grand and opulent.
In case you missed the show, no need to worry girls coz we got you covered. We have curated the highlights of this fashion week that witnessed elaborate ramps, elegant designs, bridal silhouettes and red carpet must-haves.
After floral prints last season, it’s time for floral embroidery. Rahul Mishra, Varun Bahl and Rohit Bal collections boasted of embroidery in floral designs. Rahul Mishra revisited handloom with intricate floral embroidery and sheer patterns. Sharp tailoring and luxurious silhouettes made the outfits magical. Rohit Bal on the other hand took to Persian embroidery which again featured floral patterns (mostly roses). Brides-to-be take note and go for some floral embroidery this year for a fresh new look 🙂
Drawing inspiration from the west, capes are still going strong. Signature pieces of Sabyasachi and Rahul Mishra witnessed embellishments in form of capes. Worn as jackets or as a replacement to dupattas, capes add a chic touch to any outfit and instantly give a modern look. Girls it’s time to get your superman act (errr super girl?) right 😛
Old world charm with glitterati
Captivating cuts and modern drapes were coupled with intricate craftsmanship and traditional hues bringing back the old world charm. Almost all designers have either gold or silver in their outfits. Creating powerful looks, Manish Malhotra and Anju Modi created a bridal look which is modern yet rooted in tradition by bringing just the right amount of bling in the outfits.
Edgy silhouette and embellished sheer
Structured drapes are my personal favorites. Tiered skirts, peplums, and asymmetrical hemlines were spotted in Gaurav Gupta and Monisha Jaising. Intricate embroidery over sheer fabric lends a distinctive feminine and sensual elegance to these outfits. I can already see Bollywood A-listers (and dream myself :P) wearing these grand royal ball outfits on the red carpet.
Bold lips and slick hair
Rich fabrics and intricate embroideries in Sabyasachi were complimented with bold plum lips and slick hair. Slick hair not only adds more glamour to the whole look, but also gives it a contemporary edge. Anju Modi did ombre lips bringing in a quirky-sophistication in her bridal look.
