Katrina Kaif in Fitoor movie promotions

Hello everyone,

Fitoor may not have been a hit, but Katrina Kaif is sure looking a stunner in this movie. She has lost oodles of weight and is looking splendid. Katrina Kaif has always been accused for not experimenting with her look. I guess this time she wanted to zip up the critics’ mouth with her awesome looks ranging from sporty casual to princessy gown! I have compiled 10 best looks of Katrina Kaif in Fitoor movie promotions that will inspire the fashionista in you 🙂

Here are 10 best looks of Katrina Kaif in Fitoor movie promotions

1. Floral princess
First up is my favorite. Katrina wore a gown with floral embroidery from Varun Bahl Couture collection at an event in Narsee Monjee College. Thong flat sandals and simple drop earrings completed her look.

2. White skater dress
Katrina has been spotted in skater dresses several times. For Fitoor trailer launch, she wore a chic white skater dress by Cushnie Et Ochs. I really like the zip and cut out arms details in the dress. She matched the look with her usual soft curls, cutout sandals from Aldo and jewelry by Eina Ahluwalia.

3. Floral dress
This look was more towards casual. Off-shoulder floral Dolce Gabbana dress looks sweet. However, I do feel she would have looked better with a pony to go with the girly vibe of dress.

4. Sporty look
Showing the range in her outfits, she wore this sporty Dhruv Kapoor crop-top with Bodice cropped pants. I like polka dots in her skirt. A ponytail, snickers and bunch of dainty chains completed her look.

5. Pleated skirt
Katrina looked lovely in Dion Lee black top with slit sleeves and multi-colored pleated Mary Katrantzou skirt. She paired her ensemble with sleek Dior sandals and a long necklace. She kept her hair straight and makeup minimal for this look.

6. Boho girl
Spring is almost here and seeing a maxi is like a breath of fresh air. Katrina wore a boho-style Rebecca Taylor maxi dress. Details such as crochet trims and cold shoulder cutouts add to the charm of look. She paired it with taupe sandals and again kept her makeup quite understated.

7. Color block dress
Katrina brought back color blocking by wearing outfit from Jill Jill Stuart. The crop top accentuates her thin waist and the look makes a statement but in a subtle way. She wore gold Isharya hoops to complete the look.

8. Purple princess gown
She looked like a royal princess ready for her ball dance in a beautiful Georges Chakra dress at the song launch for ‘Fitoor’. The dress had a purple hue and is fitted till waist showing off her curves. Side swept loose curls and Gehna jewelry from Gehna and Jimmy Choo shoes completed her look.

9. Strapless gown
Katrina looked sophisticated in this minimalistic strapless gown by Roland Mouret. Lime color brings freshness in this classic silhoutte. She wore traditional earrings with it, which was a nice touch as she was in Jaipur during this promotion.

10. Separates
Showing off her perfect abs she wore separates from Cushnie Et Ochs Resort 2016 collection. Ruffled crop top and skirt look great on her. To bring in some color, she wore a pair of orange pumps and a gold jewelry.

Katrina Kaif has definitely taken huge strides this time as far as being fashionable goes. Is this only me or is she looking more radiant and gorgeous after her breakup 😉

Best dressed Golden Globe 2016

Best dressed Golden Globe 2016

Fashion is one the star points of Golden Globes every year. I can’t imagine the dread the celebs must go through before they make their appearance coz who knows which list they would be on – the best dressed or the worst one! No fashion blog is complete without the list of best dressed at Golden Globe Awards. I will not make this mistake and here’s the list of most beautiful dresses at this moment in the world, in no particular order 🙂 This year many actresses chose to be experimental with unusual colors, cuts and silhouettes. So lot to take in guys…

JENNIFER LOPEZ topped the list of best dressed at this year’s Golden Globes. She stole the show in a yellow Giambattista Valli dress. Her cape gown is on-point on style game and yellow color is cherry on the cake. She strutted in sparkly silver Jimmy Choo heels and a Judith Leiber clutch. And girls, adjust your eyes before you take in the beauty of her (jaw dropping!) 240 carats of Harry Winston diamonds.

Always fashionable yet elegant JULIANNE MOORE made the appearance in a glittery, midnight blue Tom Ford gown. The asymmetrical collar and perfect fit made the gown interesting.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE made a statement in a crimson Dior cut-out ensemble. The bold look doesn’t just stop at dress; her Chopard jewelry makes a stamen too! (v)

OLIVIA WILDE who topped the best dressed last year didn’t disappoint this time as well. She looked ravishing in a plunging scarlet Michael Kors Collection gown. She completed her look with curls and wore a chunky jeweled choker, cocktail ring and gold clutch by Bulgari.

I cannot tell you how happy I am that my favorite actress TARAJI P. HENSON won the best actress for television drama (yay!) She is someone who can rock leopard print dress with a hat in same print, so it was no surprise that she looked graceful in the custom Stella McCartney gown with a caped train. She completed her look with Kimberly McDonald for Gemfields emerald earrings.

ZENDAYA COLEMAN looked elegant wearing a Marchesa gown which looked super modern with tiered silhouette. A plunging v-neckline and the laser-cut floral details just added to the beauty. She also wore Yoko London pearl-and-diamond earrings, a Lydia Courteille ring and carried a black Marchesa clutch.

Staying true to the brand she endorses, ALICIA VIKANDER wore a simple apron-front Louis Vuitton dress with ruffles and shimmering piping. She kept the look simple with elegant earrings by the line.

BRIE LARSON, the winner of Best Actress in Drama (for Room) wore a dress befitting a winner; a sparkly gold body-hugging custom Calvin Klein Collection outfit. Her jewelry is by Tiffany & Co. jewels.

LILY JAMES stayed true to her character of Cindrella and kept the little princess vibe going with her ethereal delicate pastel Marchesa gown with keyhole cutout and caped detail. A diamond bracelet by us Harry Winston completed her look.

KIRSTEN DUNST goes the classic way in black Valentino Haute Couture gown with a twist, plunging neckline with criss-cross straps around the back. She also wore vintage Fred Leighton diamonds.

Top fashion trends 2015

Hello everyone!

As the 2015 gets closer to its end, I thought that why not do a recap of top fashion trends that we witnessed this year! Now you might be thinking the futility of this post as the year has already gone by? But my dear girls, you will notice once you go through these trends; that they are here to stay. In case you don’t know, this is my first year as fashion blogger and I have been very diligent my friends. Throughout the year I have tried to showcase these trends in wearable format, so this will also be a recap of my posts in the last year 😀 You can click on the pictures to read full post on each trend. Without further ado let’s begin 🙂

  1. Denim jumpsuits or denim on denim

This trend has been the most accepted one! From celebs to street, it was loved and embraced by all. (You can read more on this trend here). Everything denim is quite in vogue, be it skirts, jackets, dresses or even jumpsuits. It’s a great transitional piece that can be worn comfortably during autumn and spring.

1_Denim jumpsuit

  1. Plaids or tartan

Plaids or tartan also made a comeback and the favorite being black and red amongst all brands. Its casual, its chic…you can dress it up (with pencil skirt as I have done) or dress down.

  1. Off-shoulder top

This is one tricky trend which requires just the right touch of show and hide 😉 Wear it with fedora and shorts and look like a bomb.

  1. Fringe bucket bag

Almost all high end designer labels came out with their versions of Bucket bags and fringe bags. The popularity is still soaring as both are appealing in terms of style and utility. And then came the fringe bucket bag giving best of both worlds! Black and camel colors were the two favorites among fashionistas.

  1. Gladiators

When I was in Australia, I was surprised to find every girl (literally each one of them) wearing gladiators (shorter version). They wore it in flats, bellies, stilettoes, wedges and block heels. Needless to add I bought one too 😀 (you will see short version on blog soon).

  1. Capes

I love to style this trend. It’s totally up my alley. It looks graceful and elegant and very feminine. This looks good in jackets, dresses and full length gowns (a la Daenerys Targaryen)! I recently worn a jumpsuit with cape sleeves which was a fresh take on the trend.

  1. Palazzo or wide-legged pants (Indian or western)

Indian fashionistas have shown love particularly to this trend J It’s flattering on all shapes and sizes and suits all ages. This is one trend in the list that my mom and mom-in-law both have embraced. This trend is so versatile and can be worn in Indian or western style.

  1. Crop top

Crop tops is one cool casual trend that college goers have loved the most! it looks great with skirts, jeans, and wide-legged pants. It also looks great in Indian wear paired with a full ghagra or pleated skirt.

Maxi skirt 1a

  1. Lace

Lace dresses made a comeback a couple of years ago and are still creating waves. Making a women feel more feminine and stylish….it is bound to stay 🙂

  1. Nautical Stripes

Stripes were big this year. The more different and asymmetrical, the better!

Website review: Vintage Desi

Hola ladies!
As a blogger, I am always on lookout for affordable designer wear, be it Indian or western. I came across website offering designer Indian wear the other day. It is called the Vintage Desi. While there are a plethora of sites offering western clothes for sale, this one aims solely at Indian designer wear. Apart from a wide variety to choose from, this initiative also aims to get us the best negotiated price from the designers themselves.

Vintage Desi currently sells outfits by designers like Anjalee & Arjun Kapoor, Anju Modi, Ankur & Priyanka Modi, Eshaani Jayaswal, Gauri & Nainika, Ranna Gill, Ridhi Mehra, Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, Varun Bahl etc. They also stock clothes from local designers like Minal Bijlani (Paisley), Anisha Shetty, Sri Kaba by Shreya Paul, LoveShopDance, Karishma Trehan, Nakkashi and more. You can also choose beautiful jewelry by Shillpa Purii, Namrata Kedia and Sugarlips on the website to go with your outfit from this website itself.

The website also has a concept called ‘Nearly New’, which is a novelty as it provides ‘gently worn’ pieces by celebrities or models for sale, at highly slashed prices. Also the site offers you an option to empty your heavy Indian wear closet by selling some quality pieces here. This is a blessing for us girls who would rarely like to repeat an outfit, while it is still hanging new in our wardrobes. With Vintage Desi in place, we can easily replace this stuck place by a new designer outfit. The process is simple, you just need to fill a form, click some pictures of your otfit and send to the experts. They get the piece picked-up and inspect it. After a quality check, it is offered for sale on their site and you get a major portion from the sale. It is as easy as it sounds. Vintage Desi is thus aptly named!
Moreover, I love the kids’ collection on VintageDesi from Kidology. A personal observation: I liked a Gauri Nanika dress for my 2-year old kiddo at Kidology but failed to find a size. I happened to find it at Vintage Desi and at 500 INR lesser than at the store. So, girls Vintage Desi is certainly a solution for out ethnic wear confusions with an added luxury of online (sit-at-home) shopping. And believe you me, Quality is their USP, thus ‘designer wear’ is the ‘key’. So do try one of their outfits!

I love Indian outfits that have western silhouettes and Vintage Desi had good collection of them. Some of my favorite pieces on this website reflect that only 😛
1. Anju Modi’s woolen wide leg pants and crop top

2. Ankur & Priyanka Modi’s Black Illusion Print Dress

3. ESA’s Axis Mundi EarringsVintage-Desi-review-34. Gauri Nainika’s green florest dress

Vintage-Desi-review-45. Anubha Chadha’s one shoulder saree gown

Vintage-Desi-review-5My blogger friend Ananya recently wore a customized saree from Vintage Desi and rocked the event. Check out the full post (here) or her blog Ananya Tales.

Do buy a simple affordable piece first to give it a try. The outfits are exactly the same available at the designers and are not replicas or copies, but the original designer pieces themselves! So next time you are searching for an ethnic wear, or Indo-western, do check out Vintage Desi!

Let us know how do you find this concept of ‘Nearly New’? Do you like purchasing Indian outfits online? Don’t forget to mention in the comments section below!

How to wear Button-up

How to wear button-up

Hello girls,

First of all I would like to thank you all for your wishes on my anniversary 🙂 (in case you missed the post, click here). Its weekend girls, time to relax after a week of slogging! I thought that it would be fun to explore our trusty shirts for casual weekend wear.

Traditionally considered a part of formal dressing, a button-up is just as great as a casual. Tuck it under pencil skirt or put it under a coat for a formal look or throw it over a t-shirt for a chic look. It is so versatile that styling possibilities are endless. Here are 10 interesting ideas to give you an excuse to find that old shirt from your closet and walk out in style 🙂

The classic way

This one is my favorite and looks not only good on girls but boys as well! Wear a white button-up over your favorite pair of blue skinny jeans. Girls of course have an edge over guys due to stiletto and a structured bag which make the look elegant.

Layer crop top over button up

I have been meaning to try this one out. You may see this on the blog once I find “mera wala crop top” 😛 Adding a crop top is a trendy way to revisit your favorite button up. It looks polished yet new and would look great over any jeans. Make sure that crop top and shirt do not have conflicting prints (It would be better to have one in solid color).

With Leather jacket

We started our blog with pairing on a leather jacket 😀 it is so iconic that it can’t be left out from the list. A no-brainer, this one again is my favorite. There is something about a white shirt, leather jacket and ripped jeans that instantly perks you up. This one will definitely come up on blog in coming autumn season.

A plaid button-up over white jeans

There are some things that may seem casual but is certainly not common. White jeans falls under such category. When a plaid shirt is worn with white jeans, the pairing not only looks chic but is a head turner too!

Wear it with red jeans

Pair a flowy white or black button up with rolled up red jeans to make a statement albeit “casually” 😛 Add on a chunky necklace and your favorite ballerinas to complete the look like Alessandra Ambrosio .

Underneath a bright sweater

Layer a bright sweater over a patterned shirt for a fresh look. Bright colors not only make you look cheerful but also brighten up your mood. Make sure that collars, sleeves and bottom peak out! Downplay the rest of things to create a balanced look.

Wear it with a skater skirt

Pair your button up with skater skirt for a playful outfit. A slim belt over skirt helps cinch in your waist. Add cute accessories such as charm bracelets and dainty neckpieces to make the look even more feminine.

With sweat pants and sneakers

Mixing elements looks chic and modern. There is a sense of effortless style when a formal wardrobe item is paired with super casual ones. Pair a formal white crisp t-shirt with grey sweatpants and sneakers for a day out with friends.

Be a dare-devil

Feeling daring? Pair your button up with a full length box-pleated maxi skirt! You are sure to make a statement and a very stylish one! Skirt with pockets would be added benefit 🙂

Open-knot shirt over floral skirt

Steps for a sassy outfit: 1. Don’t close buttons 2. Put a knot 3. Pair with a floral skirt = your cute outfit ready 😀 This one is a bold step forward for sure but what’s life without risks right?

Autumn fashion trends 2015 you can’t afford to miss!

Autumn is knocking on the doors and I can’t wait to say goodbye to this scorching summer heat. But as always, we need to be fashion ready. Stores have lined up the new collection but before you start your shopping spree, here are some trends that will give you a head start!

Boho Glam

If you thought that bohemian chic and fringes was only for summer, you are wrong! Boho fashion is still going strong and this autumn it’s time to let your dark side rule. Dark shades interlaced with fringes, loose cuts, prints are the way to go. Make a style statement with sheer tights, fringed kimono and long thigh high boots.

Puffed sleeves

This 80’s trend is set to make a comeback! Be it shirts, dresses or jackets; puffer sleeves will in major trend this time of the year. Not to make the look reminiscent of childhood, go for bold colors, interesting cuts and rock this autumn newest trend.

Go to mall. Visit any of your favorite stores; it doesn’t matter whether it’s a shoe or a clothing store. One thing that you are bound to find are – Monochrome checks! This one is a no-brainer as you can find these monochrome checks in bags. Shoes, scarves, shirts, skirts, coats and even pants! To take your look to the next level, try pairing checks of different sizes or fabrics, preferably in opposite colors for top and bottom.

Go green or blush with pink

Let Olives, dried herbs and emeralds be your color inspiration! Green is coming in big way to brighten our autumn greys. To master the trend, go military. Military color was used on runway by most designers. Wear a military trench like me or go for a full on look with a jumpsuit a la Jason Wu.

Add a soft touch of pink to satisfy your feminine side. Try a blush toned dress with nude bag and sandals for a polished girly look.

Floor touching coats

Give your coats an added length this season. Floor touching coats were introduced on fashion season last year and are still going strong. They look sophisticated and super stylish. Wear it with thigh high heeled boots with short dress underneath to make heads turn or keep it formal with a maxi and stilettos.

Confused? Don’t be! We will be with you on this fashionable journey. Stay tuned to see how we style these trends 

Double Denim Trend: Celeb Watch

Hello Readers!

In continuation with our special feature every Friday where we discuss with you the latest trends, today I am here to share a little about a latest autumn fashion trend: Denim on the Top and Denim on the Bottoms…That is why i call it Double Denim. This trend of the 90’s is back with a bang…so much so that you find many Bollywood and Hollywood celebrities sporting it. While denim in the bottoms has never ever been out of fashion, I remember wearing a cropped grey denim jacket during my high school days over my school uniform. I have listed the 10 best dressed Bollywood celebs in Double Denim look. Check it out!

1. Kangana Ranaut

She has been spotted numerous times in Denim on Denim, especially while travelling. Thanks to the comfort of this fabric. Kangana has layered here striped t-shirt with a Denim shirt, and also wore a light-dark denim combination. The first look is carefree while second one is more chic.

2. Kareena Kapoor

A Denim coat is a novelty to wear, well sported by Miss Khan. Tan accessories add a bit of oomph to the combination. The denim printed top in the second picture was selling online like hot cakes on numerous websites only after Kareena wore it.

3. Jacqueline Fernandez

A Patched printed denim shirt to be found rarely was carried off by Jacky beautifully with a pair of white denims. The look is cool and casual. The dark pink lips and high pony tail  accentuate her outfit.

Jaqeline denim on denim

4. Alia Bhatt

I believe for Alia denim on denim stands so much for ‘casual’, that whenever she was spotted in this, was without any make-up. A long sleeved shirt was  paired with a bright colored denim, while a short sleeves one was paired with a similar colored jeans.

Alia bhatt denim on denim

5. Parineeti Chopra

Parineeti has been spotted in cropped denim jacket over a striped t-shirt, and also in a blue denim shirt paired with a black denim,a clutch and casual shoes. The look is again casual and carefree with minimal make-up.

Parineeti chopra denim on denim

6. Katrina Kaif

Super stylish Katrina has also incorporated this trend for her travel gear. Seems like Denim on Denim seems to be top on celeb list for airport dressing (so you know what to wear next time you’re catching a flight!). A double pocket darker blue denim shirt, paired with a lighter tone denim bottom along with shiny sneakers, aviator sunglasses and a floral print black bag-pack is a perfect outfit for a day on the go. No make-up required again!

7. Deepika Padukone

This diva, like Alia carried of a lighter blue shirt with colored pants and looked chic and stylish. Her nude stilettos keep the whole pairing soft and sober.

8. Priyanka Chopra

Denim jumpsuits is definitely a bold and sporty trend of the season that is giving us maximum style kudos and minimum fuss. Ms. Chopra was spotted in this chic avatar wearing a denim jumpsuit. I am in love with the rock-studded pumps she is wearing.  Also see here Shruti’s post on Denim jumpsuit a while back. The second look is again for a travel, this time a half jacket layered on a printed t-shirt, a folded dark blue denim bottom, wayfarers, bag-pack and rock-studded pointed black pumps. Cool and Casual!

See how Shruti and I wore the Denim Jumpsuit!

9. Shruti Hassan

This a completely different look we have seen in eight points above. Shruti Hassan’s denim shorts, shirt layered over striped t-shirt, Adidas sneakers, reflector sunglasses, studded bag-pack, all seem to be on my shopping list. She looks chic and paired this double denim trend uniquely.
shruti hassan denim on denim

10. Bollywood Actors

Apart from all of the above, Anushka Sharma, Sonakshi Sinha and many other girls have sported this trend (just google to find out). Then why will our studs of the industry be left behind. Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Fawad Khan have been spotted numerous times in denim on denim. This trend, thus suit all, men and women alike.

bollywood denim on denim

So guys and gals, get hold of some cool denim shirts or jackets and pair them with your favorite pair of jeans and t-shirts to get a casual, comfortable or chic look like our Bollywood celebrities. Also don’t forget to carry a bag-pack, or wear a cool pair or sneakers, or casual sunglasses to complete the look.
