2. Priyanka Chopra

Continuing the sequence trail.. Priyanka Chopra made such a bullish statement in a Ralph Lauren gown that took 1,600 hours of hand-embroidery to sew all those gold sequins and glass beads. She surely added the gold to the golden globe with her golden goddess look.

Thandie Newton in her Monse gown looked simple, chic and hot. Her outfit might not be on fire but it did seem to add fire to the red carpet none the less.

Coming back to our evergreen gowns, here we have Brie Larson giving major retro vibes in her Rodarte outfit. The bold red, sweetheart neckline, not so overpowering sequence and that bold red lip gives us a pretty elegant and bold outfit, perfect for the evening.

Keeping cozy in floor length jacket in new year

Happy new year everyone!!

Hope you all had a blast bidding good bye to 2016 and welcoming 2017. I am a big believer in making resolutions (and breaking them also :P). I feel this makes you feel positive about the coming year and bring some desirable changes in oneself 🙂

Pregnancy changes you more emotionally than physically. Its a phase where you finally get to know what its like to care for someone more than anything else. Its very easy to loose yourself in the process and forget about your goals. Hence, my resolution to myself this year is to remind myself of my dreams and not to let them go while I prepare for the new addition to my world! I am curious to know your resolution this year so don’t forget to tell me all about in comments section below.

Floor length jacket outfit

For today’s outfit, I chose to be comfy in Delhi winters in this floor length jacket outfit. Customized outfits is mom-to-be’s best friend as you don’t fit well in standard sizes anymore. I wore a jeggings beneath the long jacket. To add some glam, I wore a belt with gold embellishment on it. a pair of comfy loafers and a classic leather bag completed the look.

I was also excited to try out fall makeup. Burgundy lips are quite in-trend and paired well with this look.

New year dress ideas for moms-to-be!

New year dress ideas for moms-to-be!

Hey everyone! Its that time of the year again when we are ready to let bygones be bygones…time to dress up and party. Make new promises to ourselves, set new goals and a new start to the new year 🙂 This calls for a New year dress of course. If you are a mom to be and looking for party dress ideas…I am here to help you get started!

Some pointers for your new year dress

1. Raid your closet

Believe it or not, many of your clothes will still fit you. Look for ones that are fitted at bust but have a a-line silhouette from empire waist. You can also go for bohemian loose dress (that may not be loose anymore :P) and wear it with nice high boots.

2. Go for basic dresses

The most important that you must be looking at is comfort! Go for soft fabrics that do not cling to your body and make you feel suffocated. Choose dresses that you can use even after pregnancy. Go for a-line or loose fitting silhouettes that will look chic and will fit for your rest of your pregnancy as well.

3. Wrap dresses

Wrap dresses can be worn even by 2-3 sizes higher or lower since they can easily adjust themselves. They look formal and elegant. You can wear them to office and also to a party (with right accessories!).

4. Accessorize

Accessorizing can take your new year dress to the next level. Invest in a good statement neck piece and let it do the talking. You can also go for a nice cuff and statement rings to zing to your look.

My outfit for new year

While I was cleaning my closet, I found this dress that I had bought last year. It was a little loose but now is a perfect fit. It has red slits which accommodated my increased weight 😛 . I really like the leather collar and belt detail in this dress. It classic, so looks quite sophisticated. It hugs my body but does not cling to it. I went for a classic winged liner and red lips with this one. Voluminous curls completed the look.

Here are few other dress options. Click on the picture to view full post.

Lehenga saree | Indian wedding fashion

Hi everyone!

Its been a while since I posted an outfit blog post. Did you guys miss me 😉 ?

Some of you might have guessed or already know the reason. I am pregnant :D. Its a beautiful and a challenging phase! Nothing prepares you for so many changes in your body, so I have been a little away from blogging. With Kareena inspiring all pregnant women to embrace this phase in gorgeous outfits, I had to share some maternity fashion posts on the blog 🙂

While  western casual wear has been made easy by many brands coming up with their special maternity line, its Indian wear that poses a challenge. With wedding season going on, I thought it would be interesting to share an Indian outfit.

I find it hard to wear a saree during pregnancy as you have to tie it tightly which makes it a little uncomfortable. As per my experience, its the anarkalis and gowns that make a good choice. They let you move around freely and also looks more flattering. You can also opt for a lehenga saree as it holds easily without being too tight. Try new hair dos to make the look interesting. I wore one to my cousin’s wedding which I want to share with you all!

I have always been a girl who likes her hair open (well you know that already coz that was the case in ALL the posts :P), this time I decided to try something new, something out of my comfort zone. So I went for messy high up do. For accessories,  I went with a choker and balis with lots of bangles 🙂 Don’t forget to invest in a comfortable flat footwear!

Hope you like this look! Let me know your thoughts in comments below!

Celeb inspired makeup looks for winters

Celeb inspired makeup looks for winters

Hola everyone!!

Whatever celebs wear, becomes a fashion statement. For this winter season, I have accumulated some celeb inspired makeup trends that you might wanna have a look at. It is always a good time to experiment with makeup and enhance your look. Celebs all over the globe are experimenting and guiding us to a new era of makeup all together.

Dry winter air and a natural healthy glow don’t typically go hand in hand, but you can certainly fake it using the right products. So along with inspirations for the season, I will be recommending makeup products perfect for achieving these looks. Let’s dig in..

Gilded eyes and berry lips

(Source: pinterest)

Gigi Hadid is going strong with her gilded eyes and berry lips makeup look. Winters is the perfect time for experimenting with lips. For the dry weather makeup bases Maybelline Fit me concealer and Revlon colorstay foundation are great. Blushes like maybelline’s creamy cinamon are great for the season as it gives a very natural flushed look. Entire eye look can be pulled with Makeup Revolution’s Redemption palette and maybelline mascara. For the lips Maybelline lip polishes are great and very comfy on the lips as well.

Classic reds

(Source: pinterest)

Adele in her shoot for Time Magazine highlighted her bold look. She is a prime example that beauty rules are meant to be broken, playing up both her eyes and lips for a sultry old Hollywood feel. For this look Benefit cosmetic eyeliner and their hoola bronzer work amazingly well. Again for the eyes, makeup revolution is the way to go. For red lipsticks, loreal pure red collection is the game changer.

Bronzed skin and winged eyeliner

(Source: pinterest)

Just because it’s cold outside, it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your summer glow. Take your bronzer into the winter months by pairing it with winged eyeliner like Jessica Alba. Maybelline hperglossy eyelinerand maybelline mascara are all you need for the eyes. This is surely the easiest makeup look and perfect even for everyday wear. Tab bit of highlighting and bronzer is all you need to get the glow game on.

Plum eyes and magenta lips

(Source: pinterest)

Emma Stone flaunts her features with cool tones, using rich plums on her eyes, soft pink on her cheeks, and a see-through magenta stain on her lips. For this look the newly launched Lakme 9 to 5 weightless matte mouse lip and cheek stains are a game changer. They look very natural and nicely highlight your features.

High on peach

(Source: pinterest)

Celebs like Selena Gomez and Kylie Jenner are always up there flaunting their natural peachy flushed look. They look very natural and are perfect for winters. Chacha tint by benefit Cosmetics gives a very natural flushed look and they last very very long.

Winters is a lot about slightly smoked out eyes and flushed cheeks. Opting for lip and cheek stains is better as they stay on for long and give a very natural look. This season, light weight bases are better as they do not dry out the skin. Foundations like Maybelline Fit me, lakme mouse, revlon colorstay and even garnier bb cream are amazing. Makeup Revolution is an amazing brand for eye palettes. It has a great selection of colours and specially its redemption palette is perfect for neutrals. Hope you find these trends helpful and keep experimenting to find your own style.

Burgundy gown with dark lips| Being princess for a day

Burgundy gown with dark lips| Being princess for a day

If there is one thing every girl dreams of wearing before taking the actual plunge, its a gown! The seed is sown at a young age when Disney feeds us gorgeous princesses in their flowy beautiful gowns. May be that’s why when I stepped into a gown, I felt like a princess myself 🙂

Also read: Red carpet looks for those special occasions

Now let’s be honest, how many occasions are there which would actually require us to wear this beautiful garment? We are not really invited to red carpet events 😛 So does that mean we should never fulfill our heart’s deepest fantasy? No girl…we shall! What is renting for 😉

In my opinion, gowns go well for occasion where you have to dress up formally and yet not required wear Indian outfit. That leaves us with Cocktail functions, formal parties and special events such as birthdays where you can do whatever you want 🙂 I had to attend a cocktail party last week and I grabbed the occasion to wear a beautiful gown. I ordered this gorgeous burgundy flowy gown that went way beyond my heels from RENT IT BAE. Since the dress was plain, I also ordered a crystal clutch and studded Michael Kors watch to accessorize.

My dress was delivered perfectly ironed. I just threw it on with a pair of nude strappy high heels. I kept my makeup also glamorous to go with the dress with dark plum lipstick and curls. To accentuate the neck, I wore a sleek long chain which mimicked its shape.  Needless to say I felt splendid and happy 🙂

Other options that I like on RENT IT BAE

10 tips to get best pictures for Instagram!

10 tips to get best pictures for Instagram!

Hello! Okay, so this post is gonna be a change from the usual fashion related posts we have. This one’s gonna be about one social media that most of us are obsessed with : Instagram! Yes, Instagram has moved from being an elite- only app when it was only on Apple to being one of the most popular apps. It’s easily available on operating systems and is a beautiful haven to share photographs. Insta gives you a platform to showcase your photos using the square format and hashtagging skills. These photographs may range from being just another selfie to #foodporn to the latest fashion blogger trends to every other category in this universe! Irrespective of whether you’re Kendall Jenner with billions of followers or someone like me with 300, maintaining an insta account is creative business!

So I think broadly, there are 2 kinds of posts, selfies and everything else 😛 Here are some tips to get your posts right!

For Selfies :

I. Your face = centre of attention

Source :

The whole point of a selfie is to highlight your face. And by focal point, we mean it should be the only limelight in the image. So irrespective of whether your face is in the right, left, bottom or centre, it needs to be the only subject in the picture. Avoid taking selfies with backgrounds that have a lot of commotion, like a crowd of random people or shops or, you get the vibe right? The best selfies are those with close to solid backgrounds as all the attention is towards your face and that’s what fetches you maximum likes 😛

2. Edit, but beware!

Source :

We know that the many filters and editing tools on Insta make for our best beauty hacks, but overly edited pictures look shabby. NO matter how many #nofilter tags you put, an edited picture can’t be hidden 😛 Avoid using colour altering filters but Basic fixes like brightness and contrast are alright. It’s the age where the world is moving towards natural and crude pictures, with so many movements telling women and men to love themselves the way they are. So give a break to editing and post pictures in your raw form to garner all the love!

For example, the above photo is the unedited one whilst the below one is the unnecesarily edited one. Make your choice 😛

3. Angle, angle, my dear friend!

Source :

It’s practically impossible to be looking your best while clicking a selfie. You may have been out for 6 hours, in warm sun and then a random selfie needs to be clicked for memory (aka Instagram) purposes right? Here’s when angle becomes so important. Tilting your head at the right angle makes your face look much prettier than the state it is in. and, the right angle highlights your cheekbones and brings forward that perfect smile, giving off a totally adorable vibe! Usually, click a selfie by keeping your phone slightly above the eye level and tilt it a little.

4. Sunlight is your bestfriend

4                                                                        Source :

Sunlight > ALL filters. I mean that. Trust me, no amount of makeup or filters can make your skin look as radiant as a picture in natural sun can. The sun’s golden rays perfectly light up your skin and make your hair look the perfect black-brown shade. SO the next time you see an open window, do take the sun’s assistance and click click click 😛

For #Foodporn posts

(Seeing how we tend to first click photos of our food before eating it, it seemed prudent to include this section)

5. Top shot!

5                                                                  Source :

For most food posts,  a top angle is the best one because it shows all the vibrant colours  and shows the plating in the most efficient  manner. Mostly restaurants have inconsistent lighting so do increase the exposure and contrast of these food pictures. Add the perfect hashtag and youre good to go! #foodgasm #foodisbae

6. That scenic shot!

Source :

Seeing how all of us have #wanderlust, we leave no stone unturned getting pictures of the view around is, be it at Amsterdam or Amritsar or the orchard of Aam trees 😛 It’s a myth that flash should be used only in dim light, use flash option even in normal outdoor lighting (Unless it’s too sunny). Flash makes sure that all unnecessary lighting hindrances are taken care of and the picture has balanced highlights.

7. Look for puddles after the rain!

Source :

It is interesting to click photos off water. While it rarely rains in Delhi, when it does, do use it to your fullest. A simple sky shot can look so much more sophisticated when looked at from the reflection off a puddle!

8. Use your hashtags and captions well.

Hashtag on chalkboard
Source :

Ah, this is cardinal sin most people commit. Gone are the days when you could pair photos with absolutely unrelated captions and hashtags, so the next time you add a “Life is a game” to a random pout selfie, think twice. It’s much more appealing to add captions that are witty, relevant and charming at the same time 😛 Try to contextualise the photo in the caption and make the most out of the post!

10 Indo western outfit ideas for karvachauth

10 Outfit inspirations for karvachauth

Karvachauth is right around the corner and it’s time for all the women planning to fast to get prepared with their outfits. Gone are the times when women wore their traditional lehengas and sarees on this day. With the fusion and evolution in the field of fashion, you can now say bye bye to those boring sarees and switch to some new styles. These days celebs and fashion designers are promoting a fusion of Indian and western. So today I have curated some outfit ideas that you might wanna consider before planning for your outfit.

Also see this Karvachauth outfit on blog

These outfits are also going to be appropriate for the upcoming wedding season for sangeet or Mehendi. So lets get ready to slay this karvachauth..

1. Peplum

Beginning with the most traditional outfit, here is a lehenga with a little bit of a twist. Some times heavy traditional lehengas can be a little too much, so this embroidered peplum top paired with a maroon skirt can be a great idea. This gives you the best of both worlds where you can have your lehenga but still feel light and comfortable spending time with your better half.

2. Kaftans

Kaftans are back in trend. A lot of designers are playing around with the kaftan trend and it had to fuse with our traditional outfits. Peeps this kaftan can be your best friend if you are tired of managing your dupatta. Here the designer has paired a red and blue floral long skirt with a blue embroidered kaftan. If you wish to celebrate karvachauth in a more subtle manner this can be a perfect outfit as it looks very elegant and beautiful.

3. Capes and kaftan

In this outfit kaftan looks much more like an embroidered cape. I find it to be a fusion of a crop top, cape and a kaftan. For adding some glam and glitter going with this kind of a look is great. The entire outfit can be simple which can be jazzed up with an embroidered kaftan. Since the skirt and top can be plain, this is a great idea for pairing things up and mixing and matching outfits.

4. Especially for newly weds

This kind of an outfit is great for the girls celebrating their first karvachauth and wish to wear something heavy but not too overpowering. The deep red color gives a very Indian vibe and to overcome the dupatta mess, attaching it permanently is a very clever idea..hehe. Here the cape look definitely seems to work amazingly well.

5. Saree fusion

Kurtas on top of a long skirt has been in trend for quite some time now. Now the designers are back with a twist…Long kurta with a saree….clever. This kind of an outfit looks very elegant and classy and is great for those karvachauth parties with friends and family.

6. Palazzo

How could we not include off shoulders and palazzos this season. Here is an outfit idea including both the trends and is also perfect for this karvachauth. For newly weds celebrating this day with their friends, this would be a great idea to consider to maintain that young look and having a bridal appearance as well.

7. Off shoulders

Here is another inspiration for pairing off shoulder tops. Off shoulders with sequenced long skirt looks so beautiful and goddess looking that it can slay at any kind of occasion. This trend has been witnessed a lot at the recent fashion shows as well.

8. Cold shoulders

This is one of those lightweight after party looks that don’t make you feel utterly traditional or heavy. Cold shoulders are in trend these days and long skirts are a staple in most Indian celebration outfits. This is  nice way to spice up the look and be bright and bold.

9. Printed fusion

If you do not wish to go for lehengas or long skirts, straight pants of this kind are also a great way. Printed pants along with a wrap around draping top looks beautiful and gives strong fashionista vibes. Little bit of an embroidered panel on the side is also a method to increase the intensity of the outfit.

10. Embroidery

For the embroidery lovers like myself, this outfit is a great inspiration. Long embroidered jacket with embroidered pants makes a statement of its own. The look is heavy and very occasion appropriate and can easy be carried by most women.

These were my top 10 style inspirations when it comes to traditional outfits. You can use these on various inspiration as these merge all the major fashion trends currently existing this year. I hope this karvachauth brings loads of love and happiness between people and gives an opportunity to all the women to charm their better halves with their beauty.

Top trends for bridal outfit 2016!!

Top trends for bridal outfit 2016!!

My bridal outfit story

Let me start by saying that buying a bridal outfit is probably the most difficult decision for a bride. Color, fabric, work…there are just so many things to decide upon. I got married three years ago and was clueless about what kind of bridal dress I want (mind you, I am the type who knows exactly what she wants when it comes to clothes :P), so I would just keep visiting stores and see the collection to see what clicks. In 2013, it was all about Sabyasachi style but don’t know why, it wouldn’t flutter my heart. Finally, I decided to ditch the trends and go for what I wanted, a sparkly red outfit with no subtlety at all (I am a Leo, what did you expect :P). When I saw it, my heart knew that this was it! And boom next year, it was in trend thanks to Manish Malhotra.

So my dear girls, trends will keep changing but you wedding album will not. Choose what you desire. These trends are just to get you started but remember its your day and you deserve the best 🙂 Before we delve into trends, just wanted to share my few pictures and wedding highlights video (caution: there is some major tear shedding at the end that you may wanna skip) with you all!

Bridal outfit trends

Minimalism is the most beautiful trend among modern Indian brides today. Instead of going for overstated boldness, women are preferring tasteful elegance. Be it the traditional lehenga or the jewelry, everything looks chic and graceful. Brides are also opting for a modern touch and are ready to experiment to stand out in a subtle manner. Finally the theme, ‘less is more’ is back in town.

Recently many fashion trends were showcased on the runway and here is a summary of some of the most eye catching trends this season.

Jewelry trends

Forget the good old traditonal maang tikkas and simply wear your necklace as a crown me, no joke. Simple but chunky and over sized jewelry is also quite in trend right now. Subtle ones look chic and elegant while chunky ones surely makes a statement. Asymmetric necklaces were brought in fashion by Aishwarya Rai and they are back again with a bang. Also like double choker trend, double necklaces have never been so darn popular before. And the most important element…diamonds. Diamonds are still girl’s best friend. But if you are someone that loves to go the traditional one, polkis have also made a huge comeback and look perfect with a bridal dress.

French knots, pearls and beige

Buoyancy, lightness, finesse and froth match the mood of modern brides who prefer comfort over heavy, cumbersome old school bridal and occasion wear. Beige is also gonna be overpowering this wedding season to bring elegance, grace and simplicity in fashion.

(Source: pinterest)

Pastels, florals, embroidery and dhoti skirts

Floral embroidery and prints have shown a comeback this season. Pre-wedding functions can be rocked with crop tops or jackets paired with dhoti skirts for a unique and edgy look. Pastels with embroidery and gota patti designs are winning over the classic reds and maroons.

Sequined, fringed and off-shoulder

Bright blues and pinks are as always making a statement this season but with a twist. Fringes and off shoulders are modernizing the outfits. Sequins are mandatory for any wedding season, and as always the bling is slaying the wedding season.

Metallic patterns and structured silhouettes

Designers like Shantanu and Nikhil are bringing bright colors, gold accents, delicate metallic patterns and structured looks with the new era drapes. Drapes and kaftans are ruling this year and wedding season is no exception.

(Source: indianexpress)

70’s are back

Lehengas with  long trails and ombre effects are back in town after so many years. Along with it are back the mirror works and gota patti designs. Designer famous for its classic designs, Sabyasachi is bringing back velvets and silks as well. Glimpse of the 70’s will be evident this year as well.

Hope this guide gives all the brides to be some help as well as to the people planning to attend weddings this year. However, don’t be just guided by trends, wear what you always dreamed 🙂

Shruti and Saloni

Style inspiration from Priyanka Chopra!

Style inspiration from Priyanka Chopra!

Priyanka Chopra was declared Best Dressed Celebrity at the Emmy Awards 2016 and we arent surprised! From winning the prestigious Miss World title in 2000, to having captured hearts worldwide with her stellar talent in 2016, Priyanka Chopra has indeed come a long way. Her progress has been from that of a model to a world renowned actress, model, singer as well as philanthropist. She represents India on most world stages and it is but natural that such a prominent celebrity should have a fantastic style dress. Trust PC to never disappoint. Time and again, she pulls off the most eccentric styles with ease. Her perfect figure is enviable and she uses it to her full benefit. So read on to see some of my favourite outfits sported by Bollywood’s Desi Girl!

Source :

I love how this black pencil skirt compliments her beautiful figure. This outfit is perfect for a party or just a semi-formal event. The fitting of the pencil skirt, worn high waist, is amplified by pairing it with this abstract, graphic top, neatly tucked in. The entire silhouette is so pretty and prim and proper. Her white pointed shoes add to the contrast of the black skirt. I love her makeup, her hair’s straight and flowing down while the bold red lip does the talking. 10/10 for this one!

Source :

DO business like madam Chopra and be the bomb! PC knows how to slay formals, as shown here. She takes formal attire from boring and mundane to bold and sexy, without compromising on the essence of business wear. These high waisted pencil pants highlight her long legs. The V neck white shirt is a welcome change from the usual collared shirts we wear. Adding a smart blazer in the same colour as the pants completes the looks with basic pumps to take care of your feet. Let’s take a minute to appreciate her hairdo. Such a regal bun, coupled with that jewel necklace take the look to a new level!

Source :

Off shoulder is the trend of the season and PC shows us how to carry the look with absolute panache! WHat I love about this dress is the neck detail. It isn’t just a mere off shoulder, but has a slight slit in the middle which adds the oomph appeal. Notice the interesting print of the dress. Rather than being a simple, boring monochrome stripes dress, it integrates a red tint, along with diagonal strips and abstract details. I ADORE her hairstyle of a side puff with a ponytail and that red bold lip is goals! Basic black pumps complete the look.

Source :

This is my favourite look for the prime reason that it’s so casual, yet so glamorous. The midi skirt in a navy blue, coupled with a basic white tee is a classic combination for summer/fall season. The skirt has interesting pleats which make it unique. Her neutral shades amp up the holiday fever of this dress. White pumps (I’m sure they’re her favourite footwear) and that super cute daddy’s little girl tattoo make it so adorable!

Source :

Who’s the hottest girl in the world? oh desi girl! There’s a reason this song became such a cult : It’s because the woman who this was filmed on is legit the best one to carry off a saree! This is one of my favourite sarees of PC essentially because of the blend of the meshy blouse and bling on the saree. The golden border is typical of most sarees in town right now, but what sets this one apart is the intricate threading seen in the blouse. Zari work and thread work make for showstealers and the combination of navy blue and golden is exquisite. And of course, that envious waist line is making me jealous! Pay attention to the simple hairstyle that doesn’t steal attention away from the blouse.

Source :

PC’s frame makes sure that she carries off most items with ease but when it comes to this particular one, I’m in deep admiration of her. Essentially a black co-ord set, co-ords are the latest rage this reason. THey normally consist of a crop top with matching pants or skirts and make for visual delights. Add a buzz of shimmer to the outfit by throwing on a silver shrug to add to the beauty of the black. The voluminous hairdo is the showstealer for sure, as it adds to the dramatic appeal of the look. A bold neckpiece and smokey eyes are more accompaniments you can serve with this smoking hot dish of an outfit!

Lemme know which one’s your favourite.
