DIY natural hair care treatments

Every now and then, we invest time and money in treating our skin well, often neglecting our hair. Just our our skin needs facials and packs as its skin food, hair also requires its own share of hair food. Natural foods like avacado, honey, banana, aloe vera and many more are considered to be super foods for hair care. But if all these can be concocted into one remedy, it can provide multibenefits for the hair. Therefore, here is a list of some amazing natural hair care treatments for healthy and lustrous hair.

Avacado hair mask

Avacado works excellent for conditioning hair and stimulating hair growth. Ingredients like eggs honey and coconut oil when mixed together with avacado help in restoring shine, fighting frizz, stimulating hair growth and repair the damage done to them. Mix one full avacado with two whole eggs along with a tablespoon of honey and one tablespoon full of coconut oil into paste consistency. Apply this hair pack on the roots as well as on the ends and let it sit for half an hour or so. Rinse it using a very mild shampoo.

Onion Hair Pack

When you don’t have time to fetch ingredients for your hair pack, look to your kitchen for a quick fix. Using onion for hair growth is wildly popular. Take onion juice and mix it with coconut oil to mask its strong smell. Apply evenly on the hair strands and wash off after one hour. This will not only help in hair growth but will also prevent premature greying!

Castor oil treatment

Castor oil is a carrier oil, that means that when it is mixed with another oil, it helps in enhancing the effect of the other oils. Since it is quite thick and rich, using it alone is not advisable. Mix equal parts castor oil and olive oil with one capsule of vitamin e oil, and apply it for an hour or two. After which rinse it thoroughly with shampoo. Even though it is an oil treatment, do not use it overnight. Its richness often results in breakouts on the forehead if left for long.

Honey yogurt hair mask

This one is most appropriate for dry, dull and brittle hair as it packs a punch of moisturization to your hair and scalp. Mix one tsp of olive oil and one tbsp of honey in one-fourth cup of yogurt. After shampooing your hair, apply this mixture to wet hair focusing only at the ends and avoiding the roots. Let it set for 15-20 min and then rinse thoroughly without any shampoo. Use this conditioner once a week to avoid dry and brittle hair.

Aloe vera and vitamin e mask

Mixture of aloe vera and vitamin e works wonders as an overnight face treatment. But it is beneficial for hair nourishment as well. Mix 3-4 tbsp aloe vera gel with one full vitamin e capsule and apply this mixture focusing only at the roots. This mixture can be left overnight as well since it dries up completely and gets absorbed thoroughly. It can be rinsed with just water without any shampoo as well. Therefore works as a great alternative when you are wanting to avoid using chemicals on certain days.

Green tea rinse

This final mask is a leave in treatment for hair. It will also be the very last step in your entire hair care. After you shampoo and condition your hair, use green tea as the final rinse and then let your hair dry just as normal. For this you can store green tea bags after using them for making tea or infuse 2-3 tea bags in 1-2 glasses of drinking water. using this concoction as a final rinse provides shine and softness to the hair.
